Lovely Lady Products Review and Giveaway!

Lovely Lady Products Review and Giveaway!

After getting over a horrible sinus infection along with double ear infections, I am finally on the mend! Now I can do this amazing giveaway for all of you that I’ve been meaning to do since January. Does time get away from everyone? It seems like only yesterday we were celebrating New Years Eve and now spring is knocking on our door! Although, I admit I will welcome the warmer weather with open arms.

Alright… Let’s get down to business!

I first met Cheryl with Lovely Lady Products at the International Celiac Disease Symposium. Her story was inspiring and I seriously couldn’t stop staring at her face – her skin is flawless! Turns out after years of having problems (just like the rest of us) she found out she has celiac disease and went out on a mission to create natural products to help everyone.

Prior to meeting Cheryl, my esthetician suggested using Argan Oil on my face instead of chemically filled products so for about a year, that’s what I’ve been doing. My skin feels so good! Turns out Lovely Lady Products knows a thing or 2 about Argan Oil and uses it in many of their products. After getting  bunch of testers, I was hooked and have been using Lovely Lady Products since the fall.

So, what products do I use? I’ll admit, I’ve never been a huge beauty product consumer and typically use an entire bottle of something I like before moving on to the next. I absolutely love the Facial Nutrient and Night Serum Oil.

Few tips – Our skin needs oil! That’s what prevents wrinkles and fine lines. It’s imperative that we keep moisture and elasticity in our skin to look fresh and young forever. You only need a small amount of these products. Don’t take a huge amount of the oil and put it on your face. You want just a little bit – enough for it to melt into your skin and not feel greasy. If your face feels greasy, you are using too much.

Everlasting-Argan Immortelle Facial Nutrient
(Embrace the power to never fade)

Creams and lotions may be inefficient at preventing dry, tired, itchy and sun damaged skin.  Over time, your skin needs more hydration and natural nutrients which help to slow and prevent the effects of aging.  This fast absorbing nutrient salve deeply penetrates and moisturizes the skin.  One of the key ingredients is helichrysum essential oil.  There’s a reason this oil is called “Everlasting” and “Immortelle”.  This flower will not wilt or wither after it has been picked.  This formula is complete with properties from the immortelle plant, so just imagine how effective these properties can be.

Everlasting-Argan Night Serum Oil
(Help your skin find its eternal fountain of youth)

Our Pure Organic Argan Oil will help your skin find its eternal fountain of youth. This easy to absorb oil will help to minimize lines and wrinkles, bringing moisture to your skin as it nourishes and protects from the environment.  We suggest using our Serum oil prior to going to bed, which will assist with your skin’s own ability to regenerate itself.  Cell regeneration is a natural process where fresh, new skin cells replace old, dead skin. This happens quicker at night compared to daytime. Vitamins and other healing/anti-aging plant properties lose potency after exposure to sunlight, which render them less effective.  Due to there being no sunlight exposure at night, vitamins and other skin healing properties stay active longer and can provide more anti-aging benefits for your skin (by supporting the skin’s hydro-lipid layer).   This oil is a truly natural solution for youthful, healthy and beautiful looking skin.

So, What am I giving away?

Gluten-Free Gift Ideas

The holiday season is upon us and it’s time for people to start asking us what we want for the holidays. If you are reading my blog, you probably want some sort of miracle for your body issues but since that isn’t going to happen, let’s find some awesome ideas for you to give your loved ones this holiday season.

Here is my list of gluten-free holiday items!

  1. Gift Cards – Now, I know what you are thinking… “that’s not a very exciting gift!” But, I challenge to think outside the box on this one. Gift cards for us are like free money to try products we might have been scared to spend our own $10 on! I see gift cards as exploratory money. It’s for items I’ve wanted to try but have been afraid of spending my own money on them. Gift cards can also help offset the cost of some of the things we buy on a regular basis. I would love an Amazon gift card to buy my vitamins and/or gluten-free products! Then I can buy those shoes I’ve been eyeballing at Neiman Marcus Last Call.
  2. Kitchen products – There are all kinds of fun and funky new kitchen items and I’m sure you don’t want to replace everything on your own. A new bright-colored toaster from Target? How about a new foldable colander or funky cutting board?
  3. Beauty products – If you’ve been around my blog, you know I love and adore Red Apple Lipstick! They are having  holiday sale so if you’ve been considering it, now’s the time to buy!  Not only can you request items from them, but giving their products to friends and family, you can show them that not everything gluten-free is gross! Red Apple Rocks! There are other brands as well such as Afterglow Cosmetics, Lovely Lady Organic Products or Gabriel Cosmetics (I like the ZuZu line).
  4. Nail Polish – Believe it or not, if you bite your nails and wear polish, you could be consuming gluten. My favorite gluten-free nail polish is Deborah Lippmann! She has the most amazing colors with sparkles galore. OPI is another brand that is gluten-free and is the most recognized when you are going to get your nails done.
  5. Celiac and the Beast Book – Check out my friend Erica’s book! If you have celiac or know someone who has celiac, this is the greatest gift for them! Or gluten-free cook books and/or magazines!
  6. Craft Classes? Yes, believe it or not I love this website and think so many of my friends do one or another of the classes they offer so why not suggest something fun from Craftsy? If we are going to make gluten-free cakes that don’t always taste up to par, the lease we can do is take a class on how to make it look pretty! They also have quilting, sewing, photography, knitting and more!
  7. Pretty Little Celiac Products! – Shameless self promotion here :) Lots of stuff I would love to sell. Since we moved into our apartment, I just don’t have the space to store everything anymore. Once it’s gone, it’s gone – so get it asap!

Go Lo Foods Product Review

Last week I posted this picture on Facebook and said if we got 100 likes, I would post the recipe on the blog. Well, we got over 100 likes which tells me you really want to know what all those delicious ingredients are on the cheeseburger veggie pizza I made last week.

Well, Go Lo Foods sent me a few products to try to review so this recipe is one that came from a product they sent me. I’ll post the recipe at the end of this post.

Go Lo Foods sent me their gluten-free flat bread, gluten-free pita and dark chocolate hazelnut spread to try out.

Go Lo Hazelnut Spread
Go Lo Hazelnut Spread

The Go Lo Dark Hazelnut Spread was great. Sugar Free, Gluten Free, Kosher are some of the great qualities about the product. It’s loaded with fiber in this 11oz jar and only 1.3 net carbs per 1.2 oz serving. No maltitol or sorbitol and no stomach ache after I tried it. I will say I’m always hesitant to do the sugar-free products because I think they taste weird but this did not! I melted about a tablespoon of it and dipped raspberries in it for an after dinner treat. It also was a nice change of pace from my usual almond butter on my rice cakes. You can find it online for $7.99-$9.99/jar depending on what website you find it on. has it for $8.99.

Go Lo Gluten Free Pita Bread
Go Lo Gluten Free Pita Bread

The Go Lo Pita Bread is gluten-free, low-carb and low-sugar. Right off the bat I didn’t like the way the product cut open. The top part was very flimsy and it make it difficult to stuff or eat like a pita. I did eventually and slowly peel off the top part and put my fillings in it to throw in the George Foreman Grill. It cooked just fine and the most important part is that it tasted great. It is soft and was a delicious lunch addition for me. I will be buying this product again. It retails for $5.99 online.

My next project with them is pita chips!

Go Lo Flat bread is the biggest winner of all 3 of these products. I was amazed when I opened the container to find them flexible, not cracking and smooth. Just like a normal, gluten-filled flat bread would be. They are also low-carb and low-sugar along with gluten-free. We baked them for about 5 minutes first and then put the toppings on them.

My recipe for the cheeseburger pizza

1/2 cup grass-fed ground beef 1/4 cup low sugar and gluten-free marinara sauce
1/4 cup shredded mozzarella cheese – hormone free
Sweet Peppers

Layer accordingly on the flat bread after baking for about 5 minutes. Put back into the oven for 5-10 minutes or until the cheese is melted. The meat should be cooked prior to going on the pizza.

5 Tips for Trying New Gluten-Free Products – Guest post by G-Free Laura!

5 Tips for Trying New Gluten-Free Products

One of the difficult things about the gluten-free diet is testing out new gluten-free foods and brands. There have been many times when I’ve gotten excited about a new product on the shelf at the grocery store and purchased the product, only to get home and find out that it tastes like junk.

So how can you prevent yourself from wasting money on gluten-free products that aren’t worth it? The below 5 tips will help you to happily try new products without any regret!

Tip 1: Ask the Blogosphere

The online gluten-free community is HUGE. It is an invaluable resource for those on the gluten-free diet. There are tons of gluten-free blogs out there that are run by people just like you! Everyone is in the same boat when it comes to trying new products: we don’t know how it will taste until we taste it, and we don’t have the money to waste on things that taste like cardboard.

Before you pick up your next box of new gluten-free crackers, or a loaf of gluten-free bread from an unfamiliar brand, go home and Google the product to see what people have to say. Chances are that someone has written a review on the product. Utilize this online ‘support group’ before you commit a new product to your pocketbook.

Tip 2: Go on Twitter or Facebook

Odds are if you’re gluten-free and semi-in tune with the whole social media thing, you follow a few gluten-free people on Facebook or Twitter. If you have a question about a product and want to find out if your favorite blogger or social influencer has tried it, just ask them!

The great thing about normal, down-to-earth people with gluten-free blog-personalities is that they are right there with you. If someone sends me a message, or asks a question on Twitter, I respond as quickly as possible and to the best of my ability. If I don’t know the answer to their question, I try to figure it out, or point them in the right direction. I don’t want my followers wasting their time or money on products that aren’t worth it!

If you’re wondering whether or not to spend the $6.99 on those frozen gluten-free pizza crusts, or the $4.99 for that box of gluten-free crackers, ask someone if you should!

Tip #3: Utilize New Resources

Another great way to try new products is to literally get them delivered to your door step. There are new gluten-free companies popping up left and right that want to help the gluten-free community with their journey. I’m not going to lie, I’m jealous they weren’t around when I went gluten-free! It would have made the process slightly easier.

I recently learned about a company called Taste Guru that sends monthly boxes filled with gluten-free products. How awesome is that? A box delivered to your doorstep filled with gluten-free goodies. I so wish I had this service when I went gluten-free four years ago – It would have been the highlight of my month!

The BEST thing about utilizing resources like Taste Guru is that you get a lot more bang for your buck! The cost of one month’s box is $24.99, yet the value of the box is between $75 -$100. That’s like gluten-free gold. The company also prides itself on the fact that the boxes don’t just contain gluten-free food, but they contain GOOD gluten-free food. There’s none of that hard, questionable looking, bird-food stuff.

Tip #4: Keep a List

Have you ever tried a product, fell in love with it, then when you went to buy it again, you couldn’t remember the brand name for the life of you?!

When my family first went gluten-free, we would tear off the name on the box of crackers, or keep the bag it came in, so we would not only know the name, but also what the packaging looked like. We ended up having a somewhat large stack of package scraps but it sure was worth it! I’d rather have a pile of brand names to spark my memory than lose the chance to have my favorite product again.

A more efficient method than ours might be to start an excel spreadsheet (yes, the nerd in me is coming out now). Have a column for food type, brand name, link to website, and where you purchased the product at. This can help you to stay organized, know which store carries which brand, and make your shopping experience more efficient!

Tip #5: Believe in the Little Guy

Sometimes the best products are from start-up companies. Why? Because these people have a passion for gluten-free living and they oftentimes create the product for themselves or a loved one to eat. Who doesn’t want to eat food that is literally baked with love?

So give the ma and pa shops a little g-free love when you see them promoting themselves at the gluten-free expo, Celiac tour, or just at your local grocery store! I bet you won’t be sorry!

My Earth Fare Gluten Free Grocery Cart Items

Gluten Free Items
Some of my favorite items

Some of my grocery staples are watermelon, carrots, corn on the cob, raspberries, Rice Dream milk, Tinkyana Rice Pasta, califlower, fair trade coffee, lara bars, gluten free pretzels and of course our meat for the week.

Gluten/Lactose Free

I tried this “rice cream” the other day and I’m not sure if I liked it or not. It had a very distinct flavor to it and looked very thick and not in a creamy delicious sort of way. The flavor is very sweet – even more so than regular vanilla ice cream and it left an odd after taste in my mouth. I thought having a “new and improved” taste would be a good thing….

I haven’t tried this yet but I thought it looked interesting. Fair trade rice. I’ve never had purple jasmine rice! Have you ever tried this? Leave a comment below and let me know how it tasted!

dark chocolate rice crunch
Gluten free and dairy free chocolate bar! I usually eat 2 or 3 pieces of chocolate a night so a bar usually lasts me all week. Tastes fabulous!! Just like a regular chocolate bar.

My go to milk substitute. It isn’t too think like almond milk but has a much better normal milk taste to it. I won’t drink my shakes or cereal with anything else. It sure is nice to finally have something that doesn’t make the feel pregnant or get sick after eating. Great source of vitamin D.

My husband has a tree nut allergy so he can only eat the ones made from just peanuts. Lara Bars are my bar of choice when I need a snack on the go. My favorite flavor is apple pie but I think they have about 20 different flavors. You can find them at almost any store, except Target seems to have an extremely small selection.

Gluten Free salmon rub – we are trying this tomorrow night on our Wild Alaskan Salmon purchased this week at the grocery store. I will let you know my review after we have dinner!
Do you have any staples you get each week for your gluten free lifestyle? I’d love to hear about them…
